Shouldn't their be an Open pvp server?
Someone plz tell me the fun of a preset area of pvp. You stand in a small area and duel. What fun is pvp in an RPG with a brilliant world to explore, if you can't kill people in that WORLD. This game needs an open pvp server. I hope many of you agree with me and contact arenanet and possible instigate the creation of OPEN PVP in an awsome world.

actually guys open pvp doesnt have to be a gank fest, there can be limits put in place. The thing about organized pvp is that there is absolutely no stealth, and absolutely no strategy dealing with the land scape; which makes real warefare tactics completely pointless. I dont know about you but i need more than a strategy of spells to keep me entertain. But have fun in your arenas when the same crap happens over and over. This game isnt about player skill, its not at all like counterstrike. Counter strike involves and stealth. This involves using spell in the correct order. Anyhow enjoy your generic version of pvp.

Snuffy, while I agree that it would be cool to fight in the open worlds, that's not quite what this game is about. It's not supposed to be about sneaking up on your targets and being stealthy, it's about small squad combat in a known battlefield.
The tactics come from positioning and use of the terrain. An example (Fort Koga): The map has 2 bridges, a center area, and ring of high ground around it, with 3 connecting routes from the high to low grounds. The strategy involves how you use these to deny your opponents access to their targets, or how you get around your opponents defense. A party can try to hold one of the bridges, keeping their monk behind a wall of warriors or rangers. The opposition might try to attack head on, it could split its forces and surround the bridge, or if it was using magic, could effectivly attack from below the bridge. And none of that requires counter-strike sneakyness. |
